About Let's Work
Their purpose is to keep the community clean
Their focus as local residents is to help maintain and clean their surrounding community. Along with this goal, they want to empower homeless people to make a success of their lives. These two concepts are the heart of Let's Work.
They employ homeless people to help them clean up parks, streets and maintain it as much as possible. This helps them make a small living as well as keep the community clean.
What they do
The City of Joburg is struggling to keep the area where we live and work, clean and tidy.
So as responsible residents, they are taking matters into their own hands. They have established a not-for-profit organisation to help keep their community clean and are also helping to uplift the poorest and most vulnerable people living in the area by giving them jobs.
They clean parks, roads, Westpark Cemetery, and any open area where litter and illegal dumping are a problem as well as removing illegal signs. They also help maintain public parks, and after storms they remove broken branches and help clear fallen trees from roads.
Additionally, they have a food drive in conjunction with local supermarkets, to provide food for the less fortunate, and for the surrounding old age homes, that are struggling to keep afloat.
How to get involved
They are constantly looking for more people who can help with some of the day to day tasks that comes with cleaning up a community. They are also looking for clothing, personal cleaning supplies, gardening equipment, as well as means of keeping clean up crews warm in the winter seasons.
Alternatively, they will also greatly appreciate any financial donations towards, preparing a meal for their workers and paying their wages. If you would like to contribute financially, please see their banking details below.
